Creating an optimised service mix
One mode we use regularly with companies and particularly local government authorities is a simultaneous multi-attribute level trade-off model, and here’s how it works:

SITUATION ANALYSIS
What do we want to do? New product development Existing product refinements Optimum service and facility mix at the same, increased or decreased levels of expenditure (government).

OPTIONS
We develop a matrix of product or service features.
Each line represents an element of the product and service, and there are a number of options for what level it can be provided at and what it costs. For example, face-to-face customer visits - never, once a year, once a month.

THE SURVEY
Face-to-face or online participants are asked where they would like to see improvements and how much they value these improvements. All choices are budget-constrained, and satisfaction measures are included along the way.

RESULTS
The results tell us what the product or service offer will look like at optimal satisfaction levels and certain budgets.
